Winnahs!

You all rock--thanks for your awesome response on my question. I was pleasantly surprised that editing/proofreading factored high on so many people's ebook priorities, because that's something that's always been important to me, too. I might not catch every single error, but I'll damn well try my best! (I also don't do it by myself. The talented neyronrose proofs and edits.)

Since the information and feedback you've all given is so valuable, I decided I should give out 10 copies of Betweentimes. And Randy the randomizer kept picking Kendall! ;-)

You're all awesome!

Congrats to all the winners!
And, Jordan, your ebooks are by far the nicest I've read. You take so much time to make them as near to perfect as possible. You also take into consideration all the quirks that happen when a file goes into an ereader.

Thanks, Andy! I guess I enjoy the tech side of things, although sometimes I seem to feel the need to reinvent the wheel every time I put a book together. I need to stop doing that.

But all that hard work and wanting to reinvent the wheel pays off. I for one appreciate it.

Thanks! :)

Hey, just FYI, I'd rank proofing at the very tip-top of my list, too. I didn't list it only because I figured that was a no-brainer and thought you'd be more interested in the 'not everyone would agree' type of aspects.

Also, for the record, I think your formatting is wonderful, lots of words per page so minimal scrolling. Still thought it worth listing so that you keep it that way. :)

Also dig your covers. Interestingly, think that the psycop one with the pistol and pills is one of the best. Go figure. Simple and provocative, I guess. And I can read it (paper version, which I have) in a coffee shop. :)

Also, duh, did change my preferences so that docs open to a good magnification. Never thought about checking until I thought to whine. *grins*

Proofing
I keep wondering if I should've mentioned general QC things like proofing. I didn't list things like proofing or story since the Q was about ebooks, so I was thinking "what do I want/not want in an ebook specifically). But lots of people mentioned things like good story, good proofing/editing, etc. which I think we all want! I hope! ;-)

Re: Proofing
I know what you mean, do you mention the obvious or not? I tried my best not to steer the question.

I think I might do (yet another) post about proofing so that readers don't have to dig deep into this page to chat about it.

I was deliberately vague in asking what people wanted, because for all I knew I might get 10 people saying, "A coupon at the end of the book, of course!" Or something that I'd never thought to include.

I was fortunate Torquere let me do that gun and drug cover myself. M/M was kind of new then and there wasn't as much "You must have a generic naked man on there for it to sell!" as I think there is today.

I'm glad your preferences worked!
