Seven Sanctum is Downright Creepy

I was poking around the random generators at Seventh Sanctum in hopes of casting my next project, since no one in particular showed up at the roll call inside my head, and I hit upon this random plot:

This is a mockumentary with a strong theme of how a utopia is possible. The story is about an energetic exorcist who is constantly opposing a media personality. It starts in an arena in a small town. The story climaxes with someone writing in a diary. The effect of technology on magic is a major part of the story.

Seriously...it's all there. Right there. It just needs to be written.

Exorcist...arena...mocumentary...utopia. I see exorcism as a competitive sport, and cheap zombie labor, myself. With lots and lots of zombie TV commercials. A lot like the movie Fido, which BTW rocked.

Seventh Sanctum scares me.

That's how Zero Hour got started, as a randomly generated plot I was using as an example. I wonder if I have that original randomly generated weirdness anywhere.

Hah - I found it in my FIFTH Packing Heat podcast back in 2007 -- This is a gross-out story. This story is about an organized spy, a comic, and an artificial life form. It starts in a coffee shop. The religion of the world will turn out not to be what it seems.

I think I ended up with everything but the "comic." (Will was supposed to be a "spy" but he evolved into more of a freedom fighter as the story began taking form.) And the gross-out isn't very gross, other than the shunts. I find the shunts pretty sick. And the Reclaim machine...though that's more tragic than funny.

Oh, you totally could write that story. I've read The Serpent and the Rainbow several times, and similar books. I think the idea of making someone appear dead, then reviving them to use as a laborer is pretty spooky as it is.

Scary randomness, huh? It really sounds like one of my own ideas :D

It sounds like an interesting story, one you should definitely write

I may like it enough to write it. Which scares me, in terms of the amount of writing time I don't have.

I suppose I need something for the newsletter once Zero Hour wraps up.

Interesting prompt. I can see you doing a good job of that one.

Now I have Andy throwing random prompts at me, each one dafter than the one before it. I'm a simple girl... make it stop!

Whoops -- I had no idea this would incite a plot snowball war.
