What's in store for 2010?

As I start to wrap up my Channeling Morpheus/Sweet Oblivion series, I'm making my plans for the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010.

I hope to see Zero Hour done, re-edited, and out in paperback either by the end of this year or early next year.

PsyCop 6 (untitled so far) is in the works.

I'm sad to say I won't be involved in Partners in Crime any longer, since MLR and I couldn't reach a contractual agreement. It was a whirlwind of an experience, and I've heard there's another great writer to whom I'll be handing the reins, so I know the series will continue to be a successful one. I'm unsure yet how I plan to publish the novella Sleepwalker that would have gone in PiC 5, but because I'm just smitten with the story, I'm thinking of expanding it -- either into a novel, or by adding a companion novella for a two-part story. Whichever route I go, it should also happen in 2010.

Aside from a couple of great stories I might not have otherwise written, being a Partner in Crime gave me the chance to work with the illustrious Josh Lanyon (jgraeme2007 ), and for me that was the grand prize! Even Amazon's mysterious algorithms seemed to know I had a lot in common with Josh, since every time I log in it tries to sell me one of his books. The fabulous news is the Lanyon/Price collaboration lives on! Start counting down to January, because Josh and I are working on a quirky, twisted, paranormal series that will hit the virtual shelves at JCP Books in January 2010!

Thanks! I'm excited about all of it. Sometimes I look back at how much I'm written and I kinda surprise myself!

Josh and I are working on a quirky, twisted, paranormal series

Is this a cowritten series, or paired novellas? Either way, I'm very excited!

And I guess this means the only new story we'll be getting from you for the rest of the year is SO5? *is sad* Looks like there will be quite a bit in early 2010, though, which makes up for it a bit ;)

I suppose the most accurate way to describe it will be a shared universe. Unless I opt to do some kind of short, I don't think I'll have anything else new-new in '09. As you spotted, though, I'll be bombarding everyone in early 2010 :D

Happy happy
I'm feeling very flat because our Aussie cricketers have lost to England (it's a huge deal for us and the Brits), but your post has made me feel a little brighter.

Can't wait to get the paperback version of "Zero Hour"; can't wait to see PsyCop 6, and can't wait to see your new series with Josh.

Re: Happy happy
Yay, I'm glad I could brighten your day a little. I'm very stoked about all these projects too!

Love that icon. Sweet things come in deadly packages. And vice versa. *g*

I want to work on our thing NOW. I guess I'll have to use that as my carrot to finish my vexing project. That, and the looming deadline.

Not what you were expecting, huh? Okay. Here:

OMG YAY FOR MY PSYCOPS MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE :D Well, it will be when I get to read it.

Gah, it's really frustrating that I can't write 24 hours a day.

I've been dying to put out Zero Hour. And actually, also to go into edits with it. That puppy sprawls and meanders something fierce.

I think that you and Lanyon are my two favorite authors of m/m. Interesting, because to my mind, your styles are very different. Spare and active, vs lush and... something I can't put a word on just now. Was going to say 'dark' but that's not quite it. Love both of you. Love.

So pleased that the collaboration will continue, the title it is given makes not a whit of difference to me. :)

I noticed that difference in style too, particularly in the Art of Dying, where Josh was a lot more lush with his descriptions of the island, and his description of paint and the act of painting, and sometimes I felt like "Ice. Crack. Boom." in comparison.

Sorry to hear you won't be writing with Josh Lanyon in the PIC series. You were so good, but I'm happy to hear that you're going to still write with him. Isn't he great? You two make a terrific team!

Thanks, I was disappointed things didn't work out. But since Josh is willing to work on this other project with me, I'm a happy camper :D

Anything written by you and Josh will be wonderful. Your Partners in Crime was brilliant, both stories winners.

Looking forward to Zero Hour (I'm not reading it on the newsletter because I hate reading stories when I'm at the pc), PsyCop 6 and anything else you'd like to throw our way.

Can't wait... *bites lip*

I feel so bad you live in the land of no-ebook-readers. It must be maddening.

I just put Kindle for iPhone on my iPod today and I'm blown away by how good my books look on it. (Sorry...I know...it's probably US-only. *sigh*)

Thank you! It's a little intimidating. I'll try not to psych myself out ;-)

I'll miss you from the PiC series and I'm really sorry that you will no longer be associated with Josh on this project but I will look forward to reading all of your books released through JCP Books.

Thanks, Wave, I was sad to pass along the tiara, but proud to have been a Partner in Crime at all.

The cover for zero hour looks amazing. PsyCop 6 in the works and new stuff with Josh that's really good news for us.

PL Nunn did an awesome job on the cover. (Ernest is such a prettyboy). I can't wait for the full unveiling.
