Excel Happiness

It's been driving me nuts that I keep a spreadsheet where I track my daily wordcount, and I had to type in the date in the first column every day. Not a big deal, just a few keystrokes, but the fact that it should have been something I could automate was making me crazy.

I found it yesterday, after probably the fifth time I searched!

So in case you ever need to make a column of dates (and I suspect you could make a row of dates too), type the beginning date in the first cell, select the first cell PLUS ALL THE OTHER ONES YOU WANT FILLED, and find edit>fill>series>date. Your version of Excel might be different from mine, but it's somewhere under "fill" or "autofill" in the edit menu that your magic will happen. I'm working in Excel Mac 2004 in this case.

Yay--now I don't have to be bothered by this anymore! It frees up more brain cells for smut!
