Camp Hell is Here!

My newsletter usually deploys itself at 3 am, and for whatever reason, today it didn't. So I just sent it manually. Anyway, that had the buy link in it for Camp Hell.

You can grab your copy today at htttp://www.jcpbooks.com.

I need to be away from the computer all day at the day job, so everyone make sure you don't have any problems with the shopping cart ;-)

(In retrospect, I could have just rolled this out on the 17th and saved myself some nailbiting.... Live and learn.)

I love that you pimp for me.

I'd like Thursday to be here too, but only because I have a nasty task* at my day job today, and if it were Thursday already, I'd be done.

Now I *know* that comment about the shopping cart is aimed at me! It continues to spit contemptuously at me. I've emailed you to beg for another way to pay because now I *know* it's personal between Google and ME!
*is righteously paranoid*

Congratulations, anyway!

Well, I was gonna name you by name.... ;-)

I sent a file to your Hotmail. LMK if you don't get it

Just finished the book! Rather quick, I know, but I couldn't stop until I did. There was definitely a lot more tension and suspense this time around - which isn't to say, of course, that there wasn't before. But you brought the complexity of the plot to another level. I was definitely impressed! :D

The characters were great, as always. I love Vic way too much, and it's great how he's beginning to grow and become more powerful. I hope his anxiety starts to improve, too... I mean, he wouldn't be Vic if he wasn't a bit of a basket-case, but still.

And wow, I totally didn't see the thing with Jacob coming. Now that I think about it, though, it does make sense, and I'm so curious about how it might develop. And of course, his excitement was utterly adorable. He's adorable in general, really. Every time I read a PsyCop book, I'm always so happy that there's someone who can write that arrogant and protective type without making them a creepy control-freak.

And of course, lots of love for the side-characters. Crash and Carolyn are awesome, as always, though I missed Lisa. I was also really digging all the interesting antagonists you introduced, too. I'm curious as hell about the FPMP, too...

... oh my goodness, rambling comment much. I'm going to stop myself now. Great read, as always! ♥

Hi! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. I'm surprised how many people seem to be reading it in one go (judging by when they buy it and then when they react to it, it looks like the spend the day just reading the book.) I'm not the type that can read a novel in one sitting so it's bizarre to me how many other people can manage it.

What I get from your feedback is that you saw a mix of logical progressions (Vic) and surprises (Jacob.) That's very gratifying! That's just what I was aiming for. I'm glad Jacob doesn't come off creepy for you. I think that mixed with the wrong person, he might. (Crash also might say he was the world's biggest control-freak....unreliable narrator...or is he?)

Thanks so much for sharing your impressions! I've been dying to hear what readers think :D

possible spoilers!

I'm really curious about this as well! To me, it seems like the thing associated with Jacob could be the ultimate weapon against psychs, depending on how strong it is- I would think that would make him a very interesting person to the FPMP...

Re: possible spoilers!
It was fun to think about who had Jacob's ability without knowing it, and who was just plain-ol', plain-ol'. I've known about Jacob for several books now and been dying to let him in on it.

Absolutely loved it. Jacob seemed more vulnerable, it was so good to see Vic more confident, Crash - yum. Fantastic interaction with Zig. My eyes are stinging and it was totally worth it.
Have you finished with Vic, Jacob and Crash (and Lisa, Carolyn, Warwick, Betty etc, etc) or will there be more?
Please say yes, I am addicted, enamoured and other extreme words of love with this world.
Fantastic novel, thank you.

Oh, I'm so glad Jacob seemed vulnerable to you. Me, too. But I don't want to overdo it or it will be out of character. And Vic--I love it when he snaps at the guy in the diner. I think Vic is more butch than he knows.

I don't have specific plans for the series at this point. Camp Hell was such a big giant chunk of the story, I can't say I really know what's next. But it doesn't feel like the story is done, so I'll need to wait and see when the next part germinates in my brain. (Except this one PsyCop short story idea is nagging me. Maybe a freebie or a cheapie.)

Glad to hear the shopping cart didn't hassle you. I think it just has it in for clarelondon.

p.s. no problem with paying with google, it is the first time I have used it, and I found it more straight forward than paypal.
Dec. 17th, 2008 06:57 pm (UTC)
I finally USED Google checkout for the first time today to pay for something and it was really easy. But there's someone on my f-list who gets tortured mercilessly by Google Checkout. (I wonder where it will take the money from? My bank, or ebook money? I guess I'll soon find out.)

I - andrea__88 in case my log in failed - have been without power since thursday night. Damn ice storms. It's killing me not being able to read Camp Hell. I've read the series again. And the fellas who are dear friends and have let me sleep on their couch - they have a generator - think the cover to Property is hot lol. did you send out a newsletter? If so i did not get it :( and ive been checking my email via cellphone every five minutes - yes i'm going stir crazy.
Dec. 17th, 2008 07:01 pm (UTC)
I'm glad your power's back up! I hope you didn't lose too much food or stuff like that. You'll probably get a kick out of Body Art when it comes out. It features an ice storm inspired by a storm that my dad (who lives in the Buffalo area) described to me!

Thats so cool that your friends thought the cover of Property was hot :D
Dec. 17th, 2008 07:08 pm (UTC)
I don't think I could take one more day without power.
i lost everything in the fridge but luckily there wasn't all that much in there. I'm in the process of moving so I didn't really have it full.
But I have power now and Camp Hell *does happy dance*
And in the new place so I need to hook up the PC so I can start reading
I can't wait to read Body Art, any idea when that will come out?

They loved the cover. Speaking of the cover, who designs the cover? Do you?
Dec. 17th, 2008 07:14 pm (UTC)
I haven't heard anything on Body Art lately. Hopefully the rewrites I did are acceptible.

It sucks that you're moving. That's on my list of least-favorite-things-ever. Seriously. But you're in the new place, so that's half the battle.

Yes, I design the covers for JCP Books. I will have a cover that I commissioned from an artist I admire sometime in the spring...whenever Zero Hour is done. I'm just dying for that to come out!
Dec. 17th, 2008 07:42 pm (UTC)
Its a move for the better but its been riddled with delays lol
I've been itching to do a Psycop icon or two, would it be ok to do so and perhaps use the book covers? I make sure to credit you as author/owner of Psycop and perhaps Channeling Morpheus as well
Dec. 17th, 2008 09:03 pm (UTC)
That sounds great! Every time you use the icons you'll be pimping my stuff :D
Dec. 26th, 2008 02:40 am (UTC)
Wanted to show you the icon I made
I will do more I'm sure
Oddly Josh, your partner in crime, saw it first
Dec. 26th, 2008 03:26 pm (UTC)
Oh yay, an animated gif! I always envy people who can come up with pithy sayings for their icons. Mine always seem to be pretty basic, like "Yay!" or somesuch. It looks great :D
Dec. 26th, 2008 03:44 pm (UTC)
Thank you
I enjoy making them and I'm sure I'll think of more
