Criss Cross and Library Zombies

Hot off the electronic press, it's the 2nd edition of PsyCop 2, Criss Cross!

Criss Cross finds the ghosts surrounding Victor getting awfully pushy. The medications that Victor usually takes to control his abilities are threatening to destroy his liver, and his new meds aren't any more effective than sugar pills.

Vic is also adjusting to a new PsyCop partner, a mild-mannered guy named Roger with all the personality of white bread. At least he's willing to spring for the Starbucks.

Jacob’s ex-boyfriend, Crash, is an empathic healer who might be able to help Victor pull his powers into balance, but he seems more interested in getting into Victor’s pants than in providing any actual assistance.

In other news, many of you know I work at a public library at my day job. I always roll my eyes at the patrons who mill around the parking lot for about 15 minutes before we open, occasionally pawing at the door like Dawn of the Dead zombies. (As if we haven't opened at the same time for the past 7 years, and they don't come like every single day. As if one day we'll say, "Let's open 15 minutes early just for the hell of it." And like our public Internet computers aren't on timers that won't let us log them in early even if we wanted to.)

Well, that was me at the post office yesterday. Too bad no one was in there to roll their eyes at me.

I really like the Criss Cross cover. And your work story reminds me of my old days at a library. We had one elderly patron who would start yelling and pounding on the front door if it did not magically open in sync with his wristwatch. He also had to be the FIRST one through the doors, damn any small children that might be trampled in his wake.

I always tell people, "We open and close by the same clock," so that they don't feel like we're gypping them out of a few minutes if our clock doesn't synch exactly with their watches. But it irks me that I even need to say that.

People get really weird about perceived slights of fairness!

Maybe I missed it but I'm still going to ask... is the next Psy Cop out already? I seem to recall something about the autumn of this year, but I'm no longer sure if I made that up or not :S

PsyCop 5 should be ready sometime next month. (I think "Late 2008" was the exact wording! So you didn't make it up.) :D

Great cover I love that the guy has his arms crossed. :)

OMG, Kris. I didn't even realize Vic had his arms crossed -- at least as far as it related to the title. (Duh.)

Good thing I have friends who will point out to me what I'm doing!

Yes, our customers, too! They get especially angry that we close for the whole weekend on Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. This year we are open the day after Christmas (boo.)

Once I was emptying the book drop on Christmas and someone drove up to return books. At first I thought he was seeing if we were open, and I thought, "Guy...get a life."

I'm excited for Camp Hell to come out, too!
