Big News! Partners in Crime

Yesterday I was on the receiving end of some wonderful news! I"ve been picked as the new co-writer for MLR & Josh Lanyon's Partners in Crime series!

I'm still a little stunned, to be honest. I've been telling
neyronrose  (my trusty idea-bouncer-offer) that I'm not going to overextend in 2009... but ya know, how often does a chance at a writing partnership with Josh Lanyon roll around? Hardly ever! Here's the much-commented announcement in Josh's LJ.

Body Art was the story that got my foot in the door. Ray Carlucci was a successful tattoo artist with his own studio, until his former lover embezzled the business out from under him. He's dodging creditors when he finally lands a job as a driver for a wealthy elderly couple. But when Ray reports for work, nothing's as it seems -- from his job duties to the mysterious (and sexy) neighbor skulking through the woods behind the estate. Body Art will appear in the next Partners In Crime!

December will be a busy month. Partners in Crime, Camp Hell (PsyCop 5) and Channeling Morpheus 5: Rebirth will all be out. Promise me you won't all get sick of me :P

Also interesting this week: I crashed a librarian conference (because I only wanted to see one program and my boss assured me no one would notice) and I evidently picked up some evil cooties there. I'm currently high and dry on DayQuill.

As I said on Josh's journal...

My two favorite authors pairing together - life is good :o)
I think it's a perfect pairing and I can't wait for PiC to come out.

I don't know Josh's work, so you've given me a new interesting looking author to investigate - hurray!

(Sorry - us Librarian's - we're a sneaky kind of gang. bacterial warfare - totally par for the course ;p)

That will be fun for you -- his writing is really high-quality. He's best known for the Adrien English mysteries. Related in the first person by Adrien, the mysteries have a fair amount of romance between Adrien and homicide detective Jake Riordan. The only published Partners in Crime story I've read (so far) is his novella "Snowball in Hell," which was in Partners in Crime 2. That one is set during World War II. The protagonists are Matt, a police lieutenant, and Nathan, a crime reporter. The story is wildly romantic, and done in a very film noir style.

Thank you! (Great "yay" icon, too!)

Thanks! The icon is a photo of the finale (well, part of the finale) of the July 4th fireworks over the Charles River in Boston (where I live). I'm quite fond of Boston and quite fond of fireworks, so I jumped at it when I saw the photo. :-)

I read about your good news on Josh's site yesterday. I'm so excited! I just finished re-reading "PsyCop: Property" and started on the Adrien English series again for the fourth time. It'll be great having stories by two outstanding authors in the same book. Congratulations to you...and "Whoopie!" for your readers!

Thank you so much. I'm really blown over by all the excitement and I can't wait to work more with Josh.
