Important GRNW info

Although it's still August, it feels like summer is already fixing to draw to a close and September is hurtling toward me at an alarming rate. What's going on in September? I'll visit Seattle for the first time, that's what!

The Gay Romance Northwest Meet-Up has invited me to come and talk books with a bunch of fabulous GLBTQ romance writers, including Rick Reed, Ginn Hale, Andrea Speed, Belinda McBride and many more. What's GRNW all about?

...our main purpose is to not exist—to get to a point where finding these books and finding these authors is easy and you don’t need to think about it. It’s just there in libraries and book stores and at all book conventions. Like, you can throw a stone and you’ll hit an LGBTQ romance writer being celebrated publicly. (Maybe not a stone—maybe a soft, delicious cookie.) You get what I mean though. To be at a point where we’re not fighting for exposure and to get into places, which is what a lot of our work is tied to right now. To be part of the “given,” where when you ask, “Where’s the queer romance books?” and people say, “They’re over there, along with the rest of the romance books.” (That's just one of the parts that grabbed me. Definitely read the whole post.)

If you'd like to grab my autograph at the book signing, you can bring your own book, or pre-order a paperback from me, or buy one at the event. (I strongly suggest the pre-order. I only plan on bringing a few copies of PsyCop: Partners and Meatworks for my extras.) I'm also offering a special PsyCop bundle discount, a volume discount, and some inexpensive PsyCop T-shirts if you pre-order.

Note: since the books are print-on-demand, I'll need to cut off pre-orders September 2.

GRNW is happening September 20 at the Seattle Central Library. Are you within traveling distance? Why not join us? More info at the GRNW site.

I was asked recently to fill out a questionnaire and one question was about what I was reading.

Here is my answer:

a series of novels about a homicide detective who is able to talk to the dead, is gay, and is addicted to drugs. And who constantly spills food on his cheap polyester sports coats.

I will be there, and probably on Friday too, because I live in Seattle. I went last year. It was fun (by my definition of convention fun, which consists of listening to other people talk, being shy, and asking certain authors to sign six or seven books at once because my house is a library). Apparently they also do such things as going out to restaurants and conversing like normal people, which you may enjoy more. I do hope you have a good first visit!
