Toss - toss - toss

I tossed a whole bunch of stuff when I created my office, but I'm stuck with a box of "I don't know." The "I don't know" box is slow going, indeed. Maybe I pull it out once a week and see what else I can give up.

Kept today: old photos of me & my friends from high school and college
Tossed: xeroxes of patterns and designs (since these can be found easily online now)

Kept today: old song lyrics, even though I'll probably never be in another band
Tossed: empty 3-ring binders that are warped

This is hard work, my friends. There's a hoarding demon on my shoulder telling me not to toss anything! I am convinced that tossing out the junk creates room for good things in my life. I must keep on trying.

Maybe I could create an electronic file of the lyrics, then I could toss 'em.

I feel for you, hon -- I'm such a pack rat, I can't bear to throw anything out.

Yes, I come from a long line of pack rats. Still, maybe I can ride the wave and toss a little more.

there's something very satisfying about 'de-junking', even though it's emotionally hard sometimes.

(I have scanned or typed up a lot of stuff - in the case of something like a recipe written on scrap paper with grease marks on it, it's better preservation if you have a decent back-up system in action, and it takes up a whole lot less space as a .txt file on a cd-rom / locked post inside my LJ archive than it did on paper.)

LOL, I love the recipe example. We have a 3-ring binder for proven recipes, and I toss the rest.

A lot of the problem with storing things correctly is not having a spot for them. I think that's my problem with photos. Not that I need to become a scrapbooker or anything, but maybe their own box, not just willy nilly all over.

I've been hoarding the boxes that reams of paper come in, the kind with lids and handles. Maybe I'll dedicate one to photos.
