Office Pix

Okay, are you ready for the beige squalor to burn out your eyeballs?

The carpet's flat, nasty, and thirty years old. Everything's beige, beige, beige. Unless it's hunter green. The SO's drums were in here, but he's been practicing elsewhere and we're thinking he doesn't need to have his kit set up at home anymore.

Yay! No longer beige! I'm very proud of the carpet squares I installed myself. They're dark copper/warm brown. The walls are "guacamole." And I know my coffee table looks trashy but I like how aged and distressed the parquet veneer is. (Looks like I could stand to clean the legs, though!) The bookshelf next to my loveseat is a vintage 70's shelf that used to be in the bathroom when I was a little kid. I'm not sure how I ended up with it, but I sure love it!

A shot of the closet doors and the door leading into the room. With all our shoes and a catbox outside in the hall.

The closet door now. Red! Whee! (I also see one of those ghost spheres right in the middle. Yay for ghost spheres!) That quilt will probably not live permanently in the room. I like the title, though. It's called, "I'm glad you have crabs." Art school quilt.

A better shot of the actual space I'm working in.

It sure took a big chunk out of my time to do this. There were times when I was so sore from painting (you have to do coat upon coat in a mobile home to cover up the vinyl) that I was tempted to call in sick to my day job, but I felt guilty and I didn't. Today was my first day getting a big chunk of writing done in the office and I'm really jazzed about it!

what a transformation! - it looks so warm and welcoming and cosy.

(although I'm quietly boggled that you work on a laptop - I can't *type* on a laptop on the sofa, just surfing the net that way makes me wrists hurt very quickly - I love seeing people's work space - everyone's so different :D )

I seem to sit better on the sofa. When I'm in an office chair, I fold my legs up all weird, and then they fall asleep.

I'm not crazy about typing on that laptop when it gets hot. I can probably stick a couple pieces of corrugated cardboard to the spots where my wrists rest.

I'm not crazy about the laptop in general, but I had to give $700 to the IRS yesterday :(

Here is the current workspace
Not in too much disarray, but sadly that blouse hanging there is something I started sewing maybe a year ago and then pooped out when I got to the sleeves. I need to either finish it or hang in a closet. It's been there so long, it's dusty!
