Food! Sex! (Do I have your attention?) What a loaded concept food is! Today I'm visiting Clare London's blog with a post on the role of food in fiction...and, yes, how writing about food is like writing about sex! It is! Really!

I'm loving the blog tour...I "know" that authors put a lot into well-written books (in a very nebulous way). I can't help being curious about what that effort actually involves for my favorite authors.

The blog tour has spelled out your process for writing the Starving Years, and I am so happy to have my curiosity satisfied!

That's so awesome, Kristi! I think a lot of the processes I went through in brainstorming the characters and the plot, or in choosing what should happen next, are the types of things writers do all the time during the writing phase. They just don't have to articulate it. They get to make the final choice. I really did my best to make all the choices be decent ones so I didn't end up writing something I didn't like myself.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through the book, and I absolutely love the on-the-edge-of-your-seat action. It's hard to put down.

Which is exactly why I made myself wait to read it all at once. ;)

It's a very action-y book - I'm thrilled you're digging it as I hoped readers would!!!!
