Ex-kitty Katie much improved

Yay, Katie my ex-kittie's kidney numbers are back to normal after a horrible scare and a long stay at the emergency hospital! The poor kitty needed subcutaneous fluids for a week (which meant daily vet visits since she was too distressed to let me or my ex do it for her.) But now she's her old self again! Except for the excessive shaving in the groinal area that accompanied her surgery. POOR BABY.

Here she is modeling boxes with Puff man.

So glad to hear she's doing better. Sounds like an awful experience. That is quite the fluffmeister you have there.

He's very docile, slow-moving and fuzzy.

Hey, that's great news! I'm amazed at how fast animals bounce back from surgery like it never happened. The only way you could tell is the stitches and scar and lack of hair in certain places.

Is Katie back at home without having to do any more vet visits for a while now?

My little Maltese, Teni (short for Tenacity, which she totally lives up to), had to have emergency bladder stone removal this past Monday. You can't even tell she had surgery now. About the only thing that would clue you in are the stitches on her tummy. She has more energy now than she's had in a couple of years! Trying to keep her from jumping on the furniture is now a major battle :)

I think she's just going to have another test next time she needs a shot, but yeah, she's done for a good long while! Yay!

Poor Teni, I can relate. I had emergency gall bladder surgery myself. I had no desire to jump on furniture afterward though.

Excellent news! Funny how you can buy cats all sorts of toys but an empty box is their fav. I had to give a cat fluids once - not an easy task at all. The needle is huge.

I don't think she would have even done a little needle poke. She was freaking out over being held on the table to the point where she would have hurt herself if she got a stick.

Shouldn't Katie be in the box marked "fragile" . . . ?

Glad she's ok.

Puffy's fragile too, unfortunately :(

I'm so relieved!

I'm so happy for Katie! And it must be such a relief for you.
(and your ex)

My poor Lukas is still walking around with a Brazilian since his surgery at the beginning of January. Who knew cat-hair would take so long to grow back? I mean, he's a short-haired black cat. You can't not notice whenever he turns his back to you. *LOL*

Oh yikes, on a black kitty it must be the only thing you see!

Yay!!! Ex Kitty Katie is looking good! Love the box photo. The look on Puffy's face is priceless. How dare the paparazzi take photos! LOL!

Puffy's facial expressions really are priceless :-)

Oh, glad she's doing better!!

Me too. What a relief!

Glad to hear she's doing better! Feline kidney disease can really suck. Mine is doing pretty good on his prescription diet, thank goodness.
Feb. 18th, 2012 05:37 pm (UTC)
It was a weird thing, a reaction to post surgery antibiotics that suddenly damaged her kidneys, rather than progressive feline kidney disease. Her numbers are back to normal now--man, what a hideous week.

I'm glad your kitty's doing well! Puffy won't eat his renal food so they just said to feed him whatever he'll eat. :(
