Gratitude #1 - plenty

This year Thanksgiving felt more meaningful to me than it has in the past, maybe because lately I'm working on a deliberate shift in my consciousness. It seemed like I had too much gratitude to celebrate it in just one day--it wanted to overflow! And so I'll log the leftover thanks here over the next few days or however long I'm inspired :-)

I just heard the sentiment that in America, most of us decide what we'll have for dinner, rather than if we can have dinner. That resonated with me.

I'm thankful I can afford food. That I now have a car and don't need to take a bus to the grocery store. That I know how to cook it. That even if all my food and my car disappeared, I could walk to the gas station a few blocks away and buy more. Lots of people don't have that option.

Ditto. In fact, my kids and I are having a less financially focused holiday season. We are 'spending time' rather than 'spending money' We have been discussing what is important to each of us and how fortunate we are. Sort of a meta-think about gratitude.

I think the experiences we share are the things we remember the most anyway, long after the objects are gone. Good for you! What a great way to enjoy your kids.
