Excellent interview! I would love Chance to meet Crash ;o)

I think if Chance was able to resist the advances of Nathan the window washer, he'd probably deflect Crash just as easily. Not that Crash wouldn't try. Hard.

And that's what would make it so much fun to read. What type of things would Chance say to Crash and vice versa? What would Crash 'feel' in Chance's presence? I wonder if Vic would see anyone in the candy shop?

Oh, which reminds me, will Stephan (and I spelled his name wrong I'm sure) make another appearance? I liked his character, I could see how he thought he was helping Vic.

I liked Stefan a lot, too. He was a good shade of gray (a little good, a little bad). I don't want to give anything away, though. It would ruin the surprise ;-)

Any idea when the next Psycop will be out?

I was hoping by the end of the year, but my concern is that if I force it before I understand it in my own mind, I'll end up with a subpar book, and everyone will say I'm just phoning it in.

Very true, we don't want it rushed.

Hopped up Corn
Thanks for the great newsletter. I loved your writings on corn v hops. I have been making my own plans to do something more hops then corn in the near future and this was a great affirmation of that.

You provide the best content of any author I follow. You've spoken a few times in the past few posts about your readers felling that they are appreciated by you. You make being a fan of you and your writing an awesome experience.

It's heartening to hear that you're eyeing some hops in your future! I'm preening at your "best content" compliment :D

I loved how Carolyn thought Chance had been the best interview and the most truthful person she'd spoken to, when he mostly just answered questions with questions, and didn't explain about himself at all. He did give her great chocolate, though. I guess even Carolyn can get delirious from good chocolate.

I've actually grown hops -- not commercially, just one plant. It can grow a foot a day if it's happy. I planted it near the house, and it seemed quite happy there. It grew completely over the kitchen window and was climbing well up onto the second story of the house when Mom had Dad pull it out. She wanted to be able to see out the window.

As I was working on the interview, I remembered how Michael totally came off as a psycho serial killer, and thought she'd be relieved to chat with someone as seemingly normal as Chance. And even the human lie detector can't know everything.

It looks like you have to get some pretty elaborate trellis systems going if you want to grow it commercially. That must be a lot of the expense. Is it a perennial? Some home brewers just let a few hops plants climb up the side of their houses, I think. They get a similar artsy/craftsy satisfaction of growing their own as they do from brewing their own. I love that you grew one "just because."
