I was looking at a bigger Iowa map I got from AAA in anticipation of tomorrow's adventure and I noticed a little red teepee next to the small town I'll be staying in. I thought, OMG, COOL! INDIANS!

Then I looked at the map legend and saw the teepee actually means "campground."

No fair.

I'll keep my eye out for indians anyway. You never know.

That's very true! I was at the supermarket today and the people in front of me at the checkout were from a reservation - near here. I forgot the name now, but I was shocked. I had no idea, I'll have to look online and see if I can find them again and their location. And we do have campsites in the area...

Mainly Cedar Rapids, Ames and Webster City. My character Jesse Ray in Sleepwalker said he was from a township outside Ames, so I figure that gives me a little bit of leeway in setting the sequel to that book.

Awesome! I'm from just south of Cedar Rapids right along I80.

Sweet! I'm guessing Iowa is basically the same as Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota, but I'm checking it out anyway so I can pick up on the nuances of difference. If there are any.

Nothing wrong with that!

I can't wait for Insomniac, btw. Because I loved sleepwalker sooooo much.

I definitely have a lot more to say about Web and Jesse Ray. I'm just not sure how it goes, if that makes any sense. I hope seeing Iowa will clarify it for me.

I usually get eight million ideas when I go to a location.

Okay, that made me laugh out loud. At first I thought you were excited about going camping.

I'm mildly excited about going camping. I have a cabin, though. I'd be hopeless in a tent unless there was someone who knew what they were doing to get me set up.

Thank you, I'm very excited. I think it will be better than Vegas because I'll have my car.

Cabin > tent, anyday! Hope you have lots of fun :) I am so excited there is a sequel to Sleepwalker.

My friends have a nice tent and nice air mattress, and I think setting it all up is part of the ritual for them. I have nothing. So for me it would be stressful to wrestle with borrowed camping gear I didn't know how to work.

I'm itching to do that sequel. I want to write so many things I need to clone myself to find the time. Or just start doing crystal meth. That would add like 7, 8 hours to my day.

Clearly I'm not going to encourage the crystal meth habit, so you might want to start looking into the cloning solution :-P

I'm afraid even an air mattress won't do it for me. I know I am too spoilt. I need my creature comforts after a long day of hiking.

That reminds me, I'd better not forget the bedding!
