Geekin out at Photoshop World

Day three in Vegas...well, the first day was mostly waiting at airports and flying...and I feel more centered than I have the last couple of days. Photoshop World's theme this year is a Kiss concert! NAPP (National Assn of Photoshop Professionals) really does a stellar job at making Photoshop World a kickass event. They even did a version of the old KISS Army patch (but with NAPP instead.)

Yesterday I decided to opt for an all-day food bracelet at my motel. No doubt I ate too much, but it was fun cruising to the front of the line and lingering at my table, writing, while I sipped coffee. I had panna cotta for dessert. Really good! I would like to subsist on just that from now on, please. Today has been mostly McDonald's so far. It's the only thing that doesn't seem insanely overpriced.

I learned some good nuts n bolts photoshop stuff yesterday, and some 3D stuff that I know I could have trained on elsewhere...but frankly if I wasn't going to start wrapping my head around it with guru Corey Barker in the room, I never would. I was ridiculously tired by that point, but hey, he's from one time zone farther East, and if he could do it, I could do it.

Today was wonderful stuff on compositing images. I'm wandering back now to see a real food photoshoot. And maybe buy an overpriced coffee on the way. There's a starbucks every two feet. The classes I want tomorrow don't start till 11 am. Chances are low I'll sleep in; I have trouble staying in bed til 8 my time. Maybe a leisurely breakfast somewhere.

Sounds like you're having a good time, other than the pricey food'n'coffee. :)

OMG, I just took a picture earlier I can't wait to show you!

I think the food photo shoot was the most fun I ever had. In my life. So mind-blowingly cool,

I have a tablet that I don't use nearly as much as I should. I know it has the ability to change pen tips for different feels, for instance, and I just use whichever tip shipped in there.

Once I programmed the buttons on the side thinking that would really get me to use it...nope.

I probably need one or two juicy projects to really get me to embrace it. Also a permanent spot on my desk, and not off to the side "until needed."

Yeah, i gave up a chunk of desk real estate for it. I'm literally at the 'reading the Elements User Guide' stage, though. :-|

I want to design my next tattoo on it. And work out an idea for a doll I want to make. And and and. you know. This is me acquiring more hobbies I don't really have time for. :))

I'm glad you're having such a great time. Sounds like it's been very educational, plus being good for you being around such creative people and seeing how they do their artwork.
