Sleepwalker hits the shelves!

Sleepwalker - m/m thrillerMidnight Shifts, Taxidermy and Murder

Daniel Weber ("Web" to his friends) was a promising young biology student on the fast track to a prestigious grad program. That was a year and a half ago. Now he's working a dead-end security job and living in his cousin's two-flat. Thanks to the mysterious George, he's got gaps in his memory too big for his pocket notebook to fill.

Jesse Ray Jones is the taxidermist who's trying to help the Faris Natural Sciences Center secure the MAHPS Grant, a funding that would keep the foundering organization afloat for a few more years. He looks like a skatepunk and talks like a science major, which pushes Web's every last hot-button.

It's lust at first sight…but hooking up proves difficult when a supervisor at the Center is found bludgeoned to death in the petroglyph alcove—and Jesse and Web are the primary suspects.

Special thanks to Lisa Rock, who named the MAHPS grant and foundation, and even came up with their geeky slogan!

Congrats on your actual book release date! ;) (Still not sure where I lost a day.)

It was a Saturday you lost, too! What a shame.

So far I love it!

YAY, thank you!

Looks good! Will it also be available in paperback at some stage?

Thank you! I am planning a paperback release after I write the companion story, Insomniac. Together they should be the right length.

Something more to look forward to. :-)

I'm psyched for that one, too. You did so much taxidermy research for the novellas. I read a bunch of taxidermy books, but I didn't get up close and personal with the specimens like you did. I like how you wove in a little detail here and a little detail there in Sleepwalker.

As I said on my LJ, I found Web and Jesse and Web's relatives to be very likeable characters. I'm looking forward to spending more time with them.

Thank you, that's really, really gratifying. I think it's common for people who've done a lot of research to feel like they need to use it in great big chunks. Like someone might have talked about the history of taxidermy, or how things used to be done (briefly, Jesse said there used to be a lot of mail order of supplies but now it's all on the internet. But that's it. He doesn't go on and on.)

Every time I think of huge blobs of unintegrated research, I think of DaVinci code. Its billions of readers mostly didn't seem to mind, but I did. It's part of being a storyteller to work your research in.

I researched the advice Kathy gave Web to death, because I felt like I just couldn't be wrong there. I like the plausibility it gives to the story.

That looks fantastic!! I can't wait to read it!

Excellent, I hope you enjoy it!

I really enjoyed this one! :) I definitely appreciate that you're so willing to tackle mental (and physical) health issues in your books. I like it when my hero is a little less than perfect. ;)

Does Insomniac feature the same characters?

Thanks, Davina!

Insomniac will be the continuing story of Web and Jesse Ray. I felt like we got to really see what Web's roots were, but not so much of Jesse. Insomniac will show more of him.

ooh, awesome! I have to admit I prefer series/sequels to one shots most of the time (except for Hemovore, because Jonathan is my lovah *fans self* :D )

Jonathan is? I'm shocked! I thought most readers found him off-puttingly distant. That's wonderful news.

I just loved his mix of competentness and vulnerability. :)

Jonathan is my favourite romantic hero/ love interest, but I think Vic remains my favourite protagonist. He's such a woobie -- though that makes me want to hug him more than anything else (though I'm sure he'd be horrified at the thought)!
