Lamest to-do list item

Today's a work-at-home day (yay!) and I have a splitting headache from going to my bf's band gig last night and smoking cigarettes (boo--I should know better).

Today's to-do list is:
Channeling Morpheus 4 - settle on title, write/submit proposal
Write on Morpheus 4
Write on Camp Hell
Find birth certificate.

All normal things. Except the fourth one. Because I've been looking for that blasted birth certificate all stinkin' week! A new copy would cost over $60 and take weeks to get here. So I did #1 & #2, then moved on to the birth certificate search.

Two hours later...success. My brain kept telling me "it's not in a file folder," and also, "it's probably somewhere you've already looked, but not hard enough." Both were correct. It was in a drawer where I put really small, losable things. (The certificate is an ancient 1/2 sheet of paper folded in fourths, so it really is incredibly small and losable.) Anyway, I might go on a mysterious trip that requires a passport, so I wanted to get the wheels turning.

I see that no one knew my dad's social security # when the birth certificate was made up. Why? Wasn't he there?

"Who the hell's that guy over there?" *shrug* "Dunno, who cares? Leave it blank."

Is your mysterious trip to visit me? *hopes*

:D

Also, YAY for writing! I'm DYING for Camp Hell. Just in case you were unaware.

Things are flowing on Camp Hell. I'm very happy with it. I'm a little stuck on the stuff that's going on in Vic's day job, though. on one hand, it doesn't have much to do with the main storyline, but on the other hand, I don't want him to just "disappear" while he's at work. So I think once I resolve that subplot I can cruise even better. (I'd been trying to parallel it in some way to the main plot, but it would really be a stretch.)

Are you near Toronto? I might be in Buffalo some time or another--my family still lives there. It would give me an excuse to leave for half a day and hang out with someone fun.

Sadly, nowhere near there -- two days east. I'm near nowhere LOL!

I wish you nothing but the best on Camp Hell, for purely selfish reasons. :D I'm playing with a non-erotic novel idea that has parallel sub-plots and that's HARD. There's a reason it's on the back burner.

Oh, it snuck up on me. Manikin is officially out 8/8, but Changeling usually puts them up for sale the day before (when it's Friday somewhere else in the world) so you can nab it next Thursday.

They had a promo code "coffee" for 5% off yesterday. Maybe it will still be good next week!

Your letter about Channeling Morpheus made my whole week.

Mysterious trip, sounds like fun
Passport won't take long to get, can get it expressed, for a fee, and that takes 2 weeks
I can't wait for Camp Hell and the 4th Morpheus installment
Also when are Psycop 3&4 coming out in book form?

Someone I talked to last night said her non-express passport came in two weeks. I think I was more worried about the birth certificate end than the passport end. I won't need it till the week of Thanksgiving so I don't need to pay extra yet. I will meet with the organization on Thursday and determine if this is something I want to do or not. Then I might or might not stop being mysterious about it. I'd be going somewhere cool and unusual, anyway. And hauling medical equipment.

I'll be honest with ya about the paperback. I'm being brutal with myself and nitpicking it to death. It was all ready last night to ship my third proof copy and I realized I HAD TO take out some periods or I'D LOOK LIKE A TOTAL IDIOT AND I'D DIE OF EMBARRASSMENT. I know, not really. But it sucks being such a perfectionist sometimes. So it has to go through their internal review yet again, and then they can sent me a proof copy, and then I will (probably) say, "Fuck it! Yes! It's fine! I can't stand it anymore!"

Unless I really hate the color changes I made to the cover.

-sigh-

I'm thinking two weeks or so.

I know the feeling, I tend to do that as well
Well I can't wait for that to be released either - need to ship a copy to my friend in Australia :o)
That and my printed ebook copy has taken a beating
